Dr. Scott Brandt, Vice Chancellor for Research

As Vice Chancellor for Research, Dr. Scott Brandt provides executive leadership and coordination for UCSC research administration and planning, and oversees the Silicon Valley Campus strategic planning and operations.  Dr. Brandt is also Professor of Computer Science at UCSC.

Lynda M. Rogers, Ed.D., Dean, University Extension

As Dean for UCSC Extension Silicon Valley, Ms. Rogers provides the vision, leadership, and professional management needed to ensure that University Extension (UNEX) is responsive to the changing educational needs of the region’s growing and evolving populace. UNEX is an integral part of the UC Santa Cruz’s mission to provide academic excellence to the residents of Silicon Valley, the California Central Coast, and beyond.

Dr. Alexander Wolf, Dean, Jack Baskin School of Engineering

Dean Wolf joined UCSC as Dean in the summer of 2016.  Along with the array of undergraduate programs, The Jack Baskin School of Engineering offers MS and PhD degree programs in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, Bioinformatics and Biomolecular Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, and Technology and Information Management, as well as professional MS degrees in Games & Playable Media and Scientific Computing & Applied Mathematics.

Dr. Mohamed Abousalem, AVC for Industry Alliances & Technology Commercialization, Office of Research

Mohamed Abousalem has recently joined the UCSC Office of Research as Assistant Vice Chancellor, Industry Alliances & Technology Commercialization. Dr. Abousalem is responsible for the management of the university’s patent portfolio and licensing activities along with the development of industry alliances and technology transfer and commercialization programs.  Dr. Abousalem has over 25 years of technical and business management experience. Most recently, he was the founding CEO of TECTERRA Inc., a not-for-profit innovation support organization supporting start-up and small companies across Canada to develop and commercialize innovative technologies.

Tedd Siegel, AVC for Strategic Initiatives, Office of Research

Tedd Siegel works to develop, implement, and manage strategic research initiatives for UCSC, including Silicon Valley initiatives.  Previously, Mr. Siegel played multiple roles in managing the decade long UCSC partnership with NASA Ames Research Center. Mr. Siegel was also previously the Director for Cancer Genomics Hub under the UCSC Center for Biological Science and Engineering. Mr. Siegel presently also oversees research development at UCSC, and oversees the operational management of the Silicon Valley Campus.
